Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Islamic economics in supporting the implementation of a green economy in Indonesia by using the Maqashid Syariah theory as the analytical framework. Green economy focuses on the efficient management of natural resources, pollution reduction, and the creation of sustainable social welfare. In this context, Islamic economics offers principles that support environmental and social sustainability. Using a library research approach, this study analyzes literature that discusses Islamic economics, green economy, and the application of Maqashid Syariah in environmentally friendly economic policies. The research findings show that the principles of Islamic economics, such as al-hifz al-mal (protecting wealth), al-adalah (justice), and al-hifz al-nafs (protecting life), play a significant role in creating a just and sustainable green economy. The implementation of Islamic financial products such as green sukuk and environmentally friendly financing is key to achieving sustainability goals. Despite challenges in policy implementation and public awareness, this study emphasizes the great potential of Islamic economics in supporting green economy in Indonesia.
